About Me
Hi, I’m August.
I like building things that sit at the intersection of health sciences, computer science, and design.
Most of my best work comes from creative momentum rather than formal pipelines. When I am curious or inspired, I tend to go deep, designing environments, prototyping systems, or building software that helps me understand how complex ideas actually behave in practice.
I am especially interested in health-related technology, learning systems, and the mechanics of decision-making. Over time, that curiosity has expanded into finance and capital markets, where data, incentives, and human behavior interact in ways that are both rigorous and creatively demanding.
I care about clarity, structure, and good design, not as decoration, but as tools for thinking. If something cannot be explained or visualized cleanly, I usually assume there is more work to do.
I have decided that since I am likely to be in Louisville, Kentucky for the next several years, I might as well try to build Louisville’s own version of D. E. Shaw.
My current journey involves three parallel efforts: preparing for medical school, continuing personal growth and transition, and building a quantitative investment platform capable of funding education while creating something sustainable that can employ smart, motivated people locally.
If you are on this page, you can also explore my projects, videos, and experiments to get a better sense of how I think and why I build the things I do.
This site is a snapshot of how I think, what I build, and where I am headed. Enjoy. :)
